Sanjay Dutt to shoot in 60 locations of Mumbai

Sanjay Dutt has done some very dangerous things in real and reel life. But his real-time real-location cops' action scenes for Rensil D'Silva's Unglee, beats them all.

Dutt would not only be shooting in some of the most crowded areas of Mumbai, he would also be chasing down his opponents and hammering his adversaries to a pulp right there in the heart of Mumbai. All this without organized crowds of junior artistes surrounding Dutt.

Security would be a distance away, far from camera range.

From October 16, Sanjay Dutt starts shooting for Rensil D'Silva's Unglee where Dutt once again plays a cop. This is Dutt's fourth cops' role in a row after Ram Gopal Varma's Department, Vinod Bachchan's Zilla Ghaziabad and the Hindi remake of the Telugu hit Samy.

The tough part of keeping Dutt's part in Unglee apart from the dozens of cops' films the actor has done in his career, was to be taken care of through rehearsals and workshops. Alas, there was no time to let the actor prepare. And Dutt starts shooting for Unglee from October 16 on the streets of Mumbai without space for preparation.

Defending his actors' lack of preparation, director Rensil D'Silva says, "Whether it's Sanjay Dutt or Emraan Hashmi, these are thoroughly professional actors. Give them their lines and they'd know what to do within no time. I have been working on the script for a while now. One of the reasons why I took time to start Unglee was because I wanted to know my characters better than anyone else on location. The other reason was Student Of The Year. I was writing Karan Johar's film simultaneously with my own Unglee."

Rensil admits there was no time for rehearsals. "This is a very realistic film. It's an ensemble cast. I want every actor who stands in a frame to be sharply etched. Yes, Sanjay Dutt has played the cop many times before. But never one of this nature. As far as rehearsals go, both Sanjay Dutt and Emraan Hashmi have been pretty busy."

The film will be shot in 60 different locations in Mumbai. Dutt, we hear, would have to be part of real crowd scenes.

Says a source, "The outdoor chase and fight sequences would not be shot in the presence of junior artistes playing mobs and crowds. Dutt would have to fight his way through a gauntlet of authentic bystanders while enacting the action scenes. This is a potentially dangerous situation for an actor of Dutt's image. It's about creating maara-maari (violence) on the streets. And that's dangerous."

Rensil has ruled out shooting the film in a studio since Dutt's previous cop act in the Hindi remake of Samy is being shot in a studio.

"There are no studio shots in Unglee. It's all going to be done on real locations. God knows we've gone through hell to get permission for all the locations. But we've managed," says Rensil.

Police complaint lodged against KLPD makers

The makers of the Vivek-Mallika starrer must be cursing their fate for having named the film KLPD (which stood for Kismet Love Paisa Dilli), whereas the 'actual' abbreviation is quite known to one and all. Even though the film did not live upto the expectations, it really lived upto the well-known abbreviation of 'KLPD'. If the B.O. fiasco wasn't enough, the film's presenter Raju Shah has alleged that producers Amit Chandrra and Kishan Chaudhary have failed to pay him the dues that included a principal amount and an additional interest of 12 per cent.

On October 11, YT Entertainment (who presented KLPD) filed a police complaint against Chandrra and Chaudhary alleging that the producers owed their company a minimum of Rs. 2.6 crore. Speaking about this, Raju Shah (of YT Entertainment) said that they had no alternative but to take the legal route. He added that he was the Negative Right holder (the presenter); he had funded the film with Rs 3.6 crore and for which he was supposed to get 12 per cent interest on his principal amount around the time of the film's release. He added when the cheques given to him bounced, he tried calling Chandraa and Chaudhary, which yielded no results. A few days later, even though he received Rs. 1 crore, a wholesome amount of Rs. 2.6 crore, plus the 12 per cent interest was still pending. He said that, even though he doesn't know how much money the producers made or lost in the film, he wanted his money back plus the 12 per cent interest also, as he funded the film simply because he wanted the additional money.

On the other hand, Kishan Chaudhary, who refused to have any connection with the ongoing matters, said that he doesn't have anything to do with the bounced cheques and it was Amit Chandrra who had signed those cheques which YT Entertainment could not encash.

The name Priya Anand may not ring a bell instantly but she is the same actress who impressed one and all with her spirited performance as Sridevi's niece Radha in the recently released English Vinglish.

Now Priya, who is a popular name down South in the Tamil and Telugu film industry, has bagged yet another plum project. Priya has been signed by Excel Entertainment for a lead role in their youth-centric film Fukrey. This will be Priya's third Hindi film as she is also a part of Priyadarshan's Rangrezz.

Amit Kumar's tribute to his father Kishore

Amit Kumar and his brother Sumit are just back from the US with their tribute concerts on Kishore Kumar. "We performed in Detroit and Chicago .We called the show 'Do Kishore'. We did it on a trial basis in the two American cities. Now that it has been accepted so wholeheartedly, we'll take our two 'Do Kishore' concerts to the rest of the world. We're already booked for 6 concerts in the US in April 2013. Then we'll take the concert all over India."

The 'Do Kishore' concerts are Amit Kumar's brainchild. "We first did the 'Do Kishore' charity concert with us two brothers celebrating our father's memory through his music. In Kolkata on April 12 in 1992. Sumit was only 9 years old then. Many luminaries associated with my father, like Ashok Kumar and Rajesh Khanna were present at the show."

Amit Kumar also has plans of making a film on his legendary father. "It was Bhaijaan (Mehmood) who suggested it. My brother and I had devised a skit where we both go to the moon and meet our father there. Mehmood suggested we make a film on that theme. That hasn't happened so far."

Amit and Sumit are also on the verge of starting a music company named Kumar Brothers Music. "It will be an online company. I'd be putting out my own composition for my fans online. It won't be film music, but folk songs, semi-classical numbers...One of my compositions 'Zindagi Dard' has been put out just to get a response. It's been well-received by my fans."

The online recording company attained feasibility in Amit Kumar's mind due to the progressive paucity of offline music companies. "There's no company one can take one's music to. It isn't as though I'm attempting to compete with any music company. An online music company eliminates the need for mediators like a producer or a music- company executive. It's a direct connectivity between my creativity and my listeners. I know I have an audience. There are people who love my voice."

Amit says he's done with film music. "What is there to sing in Hindi films? The greats that I worked with are dead or retired. The whole scenario has changed now. The music these days is cacophonic. I don't listen to the songs. And these item songs...so many of them and so boring! Some of today's composers claim that melody is back. Sorry, I don't hear it."

IT'S OFFICIAL! Angela Jonsson to star opposite Salman in Sher Khan

It's finally happening for Angela Jonsson. After a nearly 2-year wait, her celluloid debut is happening. Salman Khan has not only given his final nod to Angela as his leading lady in his prestigious home production Sher Khan, director Sohail Khan has dropped the second leading lady's part, so
that the focus of attention would be completely on the lissome Ms Jonsson .
Says a source close to the project, "There were two leading ladies in the script. But now the second girl's role has been scrapped, so that Angela gets full attention."
Angela would also be required to train in some serious martial arts since her part in Sher Khan is being described as a "combination of Lara Croft and Fearless Nadia". Several elaborate action scenes are planned for the leading lady. She would be trained by a slew of international stunt-men.
All this pampering for the debutante comes with a price. Angela who has so far been in the news for her various link-ups (imaginary or otherwise) had been asked to "disappear" from public attention.

Says the source, "Late nights, media events, awards functions, public performances, showroom inaugurations...have all been banned for now. Angela has been asked to avoid public attention as much as possible. Salman wants her to be unveiled to the public as a complete newcomer in Sher Khan."
Says the Sher Khan director Sohail Khan, "Now there's only one girl in Sher Khan. The second role didn't shape up well enough. So we removed it from the script."

Only a few, as insiders, have seen the Indian film industry truly turn 100. No one ever could have seen the whole thing actually, but Waheeda Rehman can certainly tell us a lot about it. At the upcoming Mumbai Film Festival, organised by the Mumbai Academy of Moving Image, Rehman will be presented with a Lifetime Achievement Award. Vibrant, and with childlike enthusiasm, she speaks to us at her Bandra bungalow, which is behind Galaxy Apartments where Salman Khan and his family live.
Over a cup of ginger tea, the actor goes back in time, recalling her debut and her mentor Guru Dutt, and tells us why she’s glad the
industry has changed.
Indian cinema will celebrate its centenary next year. Take us back to how it was when you first entered the industry.
At that time, very few movies were made. Everybody used to work peacefully. We weren’t in such a hurry. Even then, India was a leading producer of movies, as it is now. Though these days, too many movies are being made.
Technically, we’ve improved a lot. We’ve even started making bold subjects. In our time, there used to be one villain, a vamp, hero and heroine. These days, lead artistes are also ready to do negative roles and the audience is willing to accept them. Thirty-odd years ago, no leading man would have done what Aamir Khan did in Ghajini (2005), when he becomes a killer. These changes are good. The makers, actors and the audience… the film industry has changed for good. They are all thinking people now. Though Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam films have always been ahead of their time.

You’ve worked in some films in the south...
I began with one dance and a small role as a princess (in Jayasimha, 1955), which is nothing to talk about. But Malayalam movies have produced very bold subjects. Now the Hindi film industry has also started.
Is there any part of the film industry of old that you wish had been retained?
The feeling of a family... it’s gone. I’m not blaming anything, but actors are so busy. In our times, Vyjayanthimala, Asha Parekh and I used to do stage performances as we were classical dancers, but we didn’t perform every day. Now artistes have to be on their toes all the time.
There used to be a lot of bonding back then. Why? Because there were no good make-up rooms! They were horrible, so we’d prefer sitting on the sets, where we’d chat and discuss stories. There were no bathrooms, yet they made great movies like Mughal-E-Azam (1960). Now, after shots these days, everyone goes into their vans.
How and when did you decide you wanted to act?
Oh, that is a long story. I was 16 or 17; I used to dance for the stage. Then I did one dance in a Telugu film, which became a big hit. During the jubilee celebrations tour in Andhra Pradesh, our last stop was Hyderabad. It just so happened, that Mr Guru Dutt was there at that time. He didn’t know me and I didn’t know who he was.
He was in his office, when he noticed the crowd outside. He was sitting with his distributor, who told him, ‘There is a girl who has danced in this movie that they are celebrating. She’s become so popular, that along with the top Telugu stars, the audience keeps calling for her. Her name is Waheeda Rehman’. Guru Dutt said, ‘Waheeda Rehman sounds like a Muslim name. Does she speak Hindi?’ After he was told that I do, he asked the distributor if he could meet me. We eventually met, he spoke just a little to check whether I could speak Hindi fluently and we left.
Then three or four months after I returned to Chennai, someone told me that the gentlemen I met in Hyderabad would like me to come to Bombay for a test.
Had you decided on acting then?
I hadn’t. Ek shauq se kar liya tha, phir dar gaye (I had jumped into it as a hobby, then I got scared). But we eventually met. I didn’t know if I was capable of acting, it was him. He had the confidence and signed me on a salary basis for three movies.
Then C.I.D (1956) became a hit. I was the vamp in that one, but I was too soft looking. The audience liked me in Pyaasa (1957). It was around then Guru Dutt ji told me, ‘Those three films you will make with me in any case, but please don’t hesitate to sign any others that are independently offered to you’. He explained to me, ‘The life span of a woman’s career in the film industry is very short. It wouldn’t be fair for me to stop you. As long as you give me preference when it comes to your dates’, which I thought was very fair.
I didn’t know anyone in the industry then. He used to say, ‘If you have a problem, consult us’. Then we would say, ‘Chalo, kar lijiye’. He was very kind.
Then you took a long break in the 1990s…
I’m a very realistic person. When I got married and had children, I knew I wasn’t going to get lead roles like Kahaani or The Dirty Picture (2011) in those days. They (filmmakers) still wanted romantic films and wanted me to sing duets. At that age, even I used to feel a little uncomfortable.
The contribution of the character I play in the story is very important. I did Rang De Basanti (2006) and Delhi 6 (2009) because those roles fit the need. Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra asked with great persistence and love. Since then, I’ve decided I will wait.
We artistes are like kids and we sometimes get inspired. But it’s also very difficult nowadays. I am very happy for Sridevi. I heard English Vinglish is doing well.
Do you watch films regularly?
I watch quite a few. I liked Barfi! and I last watched OMG! Oh My God. I remember asking Paresh Rawal (actor), ‘Do you think like your character does?’ and he said ‘90 per cent’. And I said, ‘I am exactly like that!’
People like me and Paresh are born into certain religious families, but we are not practicing people. You have to be a good human being, that’s essential. And neither do artistes have a religion and nor do they belong to one community, which is why they have it in themselves to bring those who do, together.

He has also designed Kareena's other outfits, and made clothes for her sister Karisma and her two little daughters, which they will wear at the various wedding functions including tonight's private sit-down dinner. The nikaah and registered wedding will take place tomorrow at the Taj Mahal Hotel, Colaba.
After the roughly 15minute long ceremony, Bebo will change into a Manish Malhotra creation for the dinner. "She'll wear a elaborately embellished gharara. I have given a very old world charm to all the ghararas she'll be wearing," says Manish.
Last night, the couple's sangeet and dinner, which was held at Saif Ali Khan's Khar residence, was attended by 50 guests, including their families and friends, and close associates of Sharmila Tagore. The theme for the party was 'Indian'. On October 18, at the reception in Delhi, Kareena will wear a Manish Malhotra creation once again.

Many Bollywood celebrities were spotted at the party including Neetu Singh, Babita, Sanjay Kapoor, Manish Malhotra, Soha Ali Khan, Kunal Khemu among others.
While a source says it's a sangeet ceremony, designer Manish Malhotra said: "Its just a fun party."

The marriage, to be reportedly be held on Tuesday, is planned as a quiet affair with only immediate family members from both sides being present.

Manish vs Ritu: Who's designing Kareena Kapoor's wedding outfit?

Tomorrow, after their nikaah, Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor will be husband and wife. It’s a happy occasion, but Delhi-based designer Ritu Kumar is upset. The designer was given the responsibility of restoring Saif’s grandmother’s traditional gharara for Kareena Kapoor to wear for the
ceremony. But recent reports credited Kareena’s friend, Bollywood’s leading designer Manish Malhotra, with that task. Hurt, Kumar turned to Sharmila Tagore, Saif’s mother, who phoned HT Café to set the record straight.
So who is doing finally doing Kareena’s wedding trousseau, Ritu Kumar or Manish Malhotra?
I had given Ritu my mother-in-law’s wedding gharara to be restored and embellished, and she’s been working on it for a while now. The gharara is very old. My mother-in-law wore it in 1939 and I wore it at my own nikaah. Kareena is wearing that for the wedding ceremony. As for Manish, he is a dear friend of hers and he is doing the other wedding outfits, as well as some for different functions.
We’ve heard that the gharara is too heavy and can’t be worn for a very long time.
Yes. With the kind of lavish and detailed handwork, it’s bound to be weighty. So there’s a lighter gharara being made by Ritu. Manish has also made one. Kareena will decide which one she will change into after the nikaah.
What are you wearing?
It’s a joyous occasion and it doesn’t matter what I wear. I think I will wear an old sari from my collection. Or let’s see. Please excuse me if I don’t sound excited. It’s not even been a year since my husband passed away. This is a happy occasion and everyone in the family is very excited.
How excited are your daughters Saba and Soha?

2102 || Kat-Salman together again?

MUMBAI, Oct. 6 -- There was a lot of excitement when Katrina Kaif and Salman Khan decided to come together for Ek Tha Tiger. And seeing the unprecedented success that the film achieved, it only makes sense to come together again.
Now, it's rumoured that she might star opposite Salman in Kick, since Sonakshi Sinha isn't doing the film.
But apart from that, Salman might have signed Katrina for a movie that he is set to produce.
A source reveals that the two actors are planning to come together again soon. "Salman and Katrina are presently busy with their back-to-back commitments. But after Kick and Sher Singh, Salman plans to do a film with Katrina," says the source.

2012||Kabir to make film fit for Salman Khan!

Director Kabir Khan, who experienced unprecedented success with Ek Tha Tiger and Salman Khan, now wants to work with the star again. Though he states that it won’t be a sequel to the 2012 blockbuster, the director admits that he is working on an idea that will be fit for Salman.
“I am working on a script and it will need a big star like Salman. I am working on a couple of ideas simultaneously,” says Kabir, adding, “I enjoy working with Salman and would love to cast him again, provided there is an appropriate story that suits him. He is a huge star, so you can’t just cast him in any film.”
The director, however, does reveal that his next, too, will be a love story with high voltage action. “I still think that Ek Tha Tiger was a love story, which had more stunts than proper action films,” he says.
Kabir feels that Ek Tha Tiger would make a fantastic franchise, but maintains that the open ending in the film was intentional and there are no plans of making a sequel. “I don’t like to give a story a full stop. That’s why I designed this particular ending for Ek Tha Tiger. More so, he (Tiger) is like a legend and thanks to such an ending, his myth continues. When people see the film, the end compels them to believe that a sequel is in the offing, but we honestly don’t have any plans,” he says.

That is the trouble with religion really... it expects conversion. If and when we do get married, no one has to change his or her religion.”
J ewellery: According to sources, Kareena Kapoor is expected to don a Rs. 40 lakh necklace designed by traditional wedding jewellery designers, Kruti Jewellers, from Rajkot. The piece is supposed to be a full-dress necklace and its length is from neck to waist. According to Pradeep Kansara, owner, it has been crafted from about 400 grams of gold, is embellished with diamonds and other precious stones, and took over two months to craft. The jewellery designer emphasised that such jewellery sets were only made for royal weddings.
K han title: Kareena will change her name to Kareena Kapoor Khan post marriage. Aamir Khan-starrer Talaash, which stars Kareena, will be the first film to have her new name in the opening credits.

S harmila Tagore: The groom’s mother has perhaps been the most involved in the wedding preparations. She was the first to announce the big day, send out invites and is even deciding what her daughters Soha and Saba will wear.
T rousseau: Kareena will be wearing mother-in-law Sharmila Tagore’s antique ‘joda’ that once belonged to the Begum of Bhopal. It was earlier worn in 1969 by Sharmila during her wedding with Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi. She got it from her mother-in-law, Begum Sajida Sultan of Bhopal. The traditional bridal attire consists of a kurta, farshi paijama and dupatta made of rust and gold tissue with a green satin gota at the hem.
U shers: They are your best friends, cousins and close relatives, who stand by you on your big day and are only a shout away. While in Kareena’s case, they would presumably be her sister Karisma and best friend Amrita Arora, Saif, the 10th Nawab of Pataudi, will have friends Dinesh Vijan, Shakeel Ladak, sisters Saba and Soha and his entire riyasaat standing guard for him.
V enue: The couple is going to get hitched at Saif’s ancestral Pataudi Palace on October 16. Renovation is reportedly on in double shifts, and the place, being run as a hotel now, has stopped public bookings until October 25.
W edding card: The formal card for the wedding has already been sent out to close ones by Saif’s mother, actor Sharmila Tagore, signed in her pet name, Rinku.
X -Mas time: Bebo is known to celebrate Christmas every year with fervour, and this time she will be on honeymoon with Saifu during the festival.
Y es minister: Apparently, some of the highest government office holders including the Prime Minister have been invited for the wedding. His office, however, has not hinted at his wish to attend so far.
Z ip it: Rumours about their shaadi started since they began dating in Oct 2007, and Saif publicly spoke about ‘prospects of marriage’ with Bebo back in 2009. Ironically, both actors have been mum about the wedding now even as the date nears.

Turning 40 seems to have done Karan Johar good. He’s a calm, mature man today, unlike the KJo we knew a few years ago who held deep and abiding grudges and sometimes came across as an adolescent.
An almost unequalled success in the film industry for 15 years, he has established himself as a brand, leveraging every aspect of his personality. He’s a talk show host, a brand endorser, a writer, a director, a producer, a judge on a reality show, etc, etc. Now as Student Of The Year, his first film without big stars, is set to hit the theatres, I meet KJo at his office for an exclusive tete-a-tete.
You seem very confident about Student Of The Year (SOTY) though it features only newcomers. Is it because it’s a Karan Johar directed film with star kids in the cast?
It’s not confidence, it’s excitement with a mix of anxiety and nervousness! It’s a first for my company and a first for me to launch new talent. I played part director, part therapist, part parent. I am shouldering the responsibility of the three kids and I hope I live up to their expectations and their parents’ who have entrusted them to me and my company.
Secondly, I don’t think the star kid element plays any more these days. I guess it’s partially the brand equity attached to the work I have done in the last 15 years in the industry. So there’s already an audience that invests in you not as a filmmaker, but as a product. But I have always been attached to movie stars. So that’s the catch 22. So while they (the audience) are coming to the theatres for me, to win them over without a big star cast is a big challenge. So yes, they will come because it’s my film, but after ten minutes, they’ll forget that and the movie will take over.
With so many marriages falling apart these days, do you feel disillusioned?
Not at all. I believe there are some really beautiful and immaculately solid marriages still! In fact I know how much my father meant to my mother. What a beautiful marriage they had and I am blessed to have grown up in such a marriage. I feel what a spouse can do for you, no child or parent can. Just that if you get the right connect with your spouse, you get it going right.
Your father, filmmaker Yash Johar, left you a legacy to take forward. Who will carry forward your name?
I may adopt. I love children and I do feel the need to take the legacy forward. I am open to it, but emotionally you have to be ready for it. Raising a child is really a huge responsibility. And I should have that time and emotional energy to give to child. How and when is a decision my mother and I will take a few years from now. My father has given me this company that I have built up, and I cannot see it dwindling into nothing.
You’re 40. Don’t you feel the absence of a spouse and children in your life?
Right now I am not ready for any kind of relationship as I am too used to my independence. Marriage is a definite no-no. I am totally married to my company. Emotionally, my mother fills up the void in my life. So there it is. My company is a spouse I will never cheat on, and my mother completes me as a son. I think I have a full family unit of my own. I am happy probably because I am single. Let’s face it, how many married people are really happy? Just kidding (laughs)!
Have you ever considered making a Hollywood film?
Hollywood doesn’t excite me, I am not interested. I am a happy viewer and a big fan of their work. But I don’t want to be one of three million there when I am one of three here!
Yes, I want to walk the red carpet at the Oscars. I am in awe of the ceremony and winning an Oscar would be the most magical moment of my life. I want to make that speech and hold that trophy and say, ‘This is for you India’. That’s the line I have rehearsed for God knows how long. But that has to be for a Hindi language film.
So you may make a film with the Oscars in mind?
I will never create a film for awards. You cannot plan brilliance; it’s a result of too many factors! You just have to make a film with conviction, the way Aamir Khan and Ashutosh Gowarikar did with Lagaan (2001). They didn’t have a plan. And I believe that conviction is king.
Is this the most creative phase of your life?
The last eight years have been, I guess. The odd part is that I have taken my company forward. And it wouldn’t have been
possible without the support of my CEO Apoorva Mehta. I am very proud to have launched 10 filmmakers. I don’t want to build an empire, but I want to build a creative den; a movie house that makes wonderful and different kinds of movies. I am not here to put a crore in the bank; I would rather spend that crore in a shot. For me, money is not that important. I am 40. Where am I going to take all this money?
You are Gauri Khan’s best friend and equally close to Shah Rukh. Are you sometimes torn between them?
They are not two separate people for me, they are one unit. I live by, stand by, and love them. They are the first people I call in a crisis and vice versa. Theirs is the only home that I can walk into at any point in time, and the same applies to them. So there’s never a divide. One is my brother and the other is my best friend. To me, they are my only family, apart from my family; and of course, other than the Chopras (Yash Chopra and family) and the Bachchans.
Shah Rukh and Gauri are people I am deeply connected with. So Aryan, Suhana, Gauri and Shah Rukh are one solid unit in my life and will always be there. I always tease Aryan that he and Suhana are in my will.
Why and how did you make up with Priyanka Chopra after that famous fight?
I called her up and told her that whatever happened, let’s put it behind us and invited her over for my 40th birthday. See, the same thing had happened to me and Bebo (Kareena Kapoor) a decade ago. That time I felt I was very immature. When it happened again with Priyanka, I felt I had displayed the same immaturity and I was not happy with myself. At 40, I cannot have problems with people.
My mother told me, if I was my father’s son, I would not have any problem with anyone in the industry. And that hit me like a bolt of
lightning. My father, in his 50-year career, never had a single skirmish in the industry. He always said, forgive, forget and move on, because there are always two sides to a story. He always said the two phrases that should be on your left and your right are ‘sorry’ and ‘thank you’. These are the two pillars I live by. So I called Priyanka and sorted it out. Today the status quo is great.
Any plans to work with Salman?
He is a mega star. I need the right film that warrants his presence and his brilliant stardom. It would be my company’s honour to work with him. Yes, we have been discussing a few projects, but Salman has to feel it’s right and I have to believe in it.
What about a film by Karan Johar starring SRK and Salman?
I make movies, I don’t make projects. It has to come to me organically. I am not here to bring together two forces or energies, nor am I here to create confusion or make peace.
I am here to make movies I believe in. First, I think of a story, then I cast it. As I said earlier, I am not interested in other people’s dynamics. My priorities are my mother, my company and then my movies.
Do you have a dream cast in mind?
I made a film with my dream cast and I am happy with it. It’s called Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham (2001). Now I want to cast new actors.
Now you are close to Salman Khan as well. Is there any stress because you are also close to Shah Rukh?
Why can’t people believe that you can have regard and reverence for two people? Not many know that Salman’s dad, Salim Khan, was very close to my dad. I grew up hearing wonderful things about Salim uncle and his family. I have known Baby (Salman’s sister) very closely for a long time. I am close to Seema, Sohail, Arbaaz and all.
And Salman worked in my first film, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998). I have deep respect for him. He’s always been gracious. He need not have done my first film. I remember him telling me that he did the film because of my dad. I have a deep regard and respect for the Khan family. I have a deep connect with them. Every time I walk into that family, Salim saab has a story to share about my dad. He sees every film of mine and I keep a trial show for the khandaan (family).
Sohail once shared that my dad bailed them out of a problem they faced while shooting Hello Brother in Mauritus. That’s interesting.
And Shah Rukh nicknamed my father ‘Tom uncle’ and everyone in the industry addressed him as that. So how can I not honour my father’s relationships and why should I make a divide? Aryan, Suhana, Gauri and SRK are like my family. In fact, Aryan marked the beginning of my career. I remember he was born right after my first schedule. And he is the only child, apart from Suhana, who I have paternal and maternal feelings for.

Shahid Kapoor back in action!

 

 

Shahid Kapoor is set to don the khaki for director Neeraj Pandey’s yet-untitled next film. This is the first time that the actor will play a cop.
A source reveals, "Shahid, for the first time ever, will be seen in a police uniform in this film. This also makes him the first male star from the young generation to play a cop. He’s working towards getting into the skin of his character now.”
Going by Neeraj’s past films, which includes the critically acclaimed A Wednesday (2008), it’s certain that the director’s strength lies in making films that revolve around the men in khaki. Our source says, “The anticipation of seeing Shahid as a cop gets doubled when Neeraj is added to the mix. He is known for making films in this genre with great aesthetics.”
Apart from experimenting with his look in this film, the actor will also be seen doing a lot of edgy cinema. Before starting work on Neeraj’s project, Shahid will be working on Prabhudheva’s Namak opposite Sonakshi Sinha and Tips’ next venture, Phata Poster Nikla Hero, starring Ileana D’Cruz and directed by Rajkumar Santoshi.

The makers of the film, Tips and Rajkumar Santoshi, want to ensure that their chemistry rocks, which is why they will organise a workshop for the actors at the end of this month. In fact, Shahid too insisted on this session keeping Ileana’s comfort in mind. As they are supposed to romance each other on-screen, the makers want to ensure that their chemistry works wonders.
